Angus Credit Union  - for people who LIVE or WORK in Angus - BE PART OF SOMETHING GOOD

      Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I want to pay more into my savings account?

Simply hand over your membership card in one of Angus Council's Access Offices with your cash or Debit Card and your money will be forwarded straight into your credit union account. You can also post or pop a cheque into our Forfar office. You should always remember to put your name and membership number on the reverse. We do not accept third-party cheques at this time.

Are there any charges?

Yes, there is an annual service charge of £5.00 which is deducted on the 1st October unless you have been a member for less than 6 months prior to this annual date. This fee helps to cover administration costs. There are absolutely NO extra charges attached to your credit union account.

Do I get a statement?

Yes, all active members receive an annual (this may be subject to change) statement and newsletter informing them about products, services and events at ACU. You can also request additional statements at any time at NO additional cost.

What do you mean by ‘member-owned’?

Once you open your savings account you become a member of Angus Credit Union Ltd. This means that you become a shareholder in the organisation; you have the right to attend the AGM and influence the running and policies of the organisation as well as stand for a position on the Board, if you wish.

What do you mean by ‘Not for Profit’?

As an ethical and mutual organisation, making profit is not our primary aim. All money that is made (minus costs for running the business) are given back to our members in the form of a dividend on their savings. ACU, like all credit unions is registered as a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation. We are not a registered charity.
