What is a Credit Union?

 

A credit union is a not-for-profit financial institution which is mutually owned and democratically controlled by its members who are known as shareholders.

Membership is determined by fulfiling the criteria of the COMMON BOND which is "Live or Work in Angus". Simply put, if you live or work in the Angus area then you can become a member/shareholder of Angus Credit Union.

 

Some key points:

  • You decide how much you can afford to save every week or month

  • Borrowing is 12.68% APR (1% per month on decreasing balances). You can access a credit union loan after completing 8 weekly or 3 monthly payments to a maximum of 3 x your savings. 

  • Credit Unions operate under the Credit Unions Act 1979

  • Credit Unions are Regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) which is responsible for the regulation of all other financial service providers in the country

  • Angus Credit Union assists YOU to smooth the troubled waters of financial exclusion

 

 

To Make Payment: You can use Standing Order, Payroll Deduction (if your company participates in this scheme) or cash/debit card at your local ACCESS OFFICE
